Creationists from All Religions Hate Science

Muslim creationists tour France denouncing Darwin (Reuters):

“We didn’t descend from the apes,” lecturer Ali Sadun told the giggling youngsters. Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, he said, was “the scientific basis to defend atheism… People who defend evolution can’t accept the existence of a Creator.”

Why can’t they imagine that their god created the world via evolution? Or that God created the universe to allow for evolution to happen? Why do they take stories written thousands of years ago by people with much less understanding of our world as “science”?

And why do religious fundamentalists — who ignore or don’t understand the scientific term “theory” when they argue “it’s just a theory” — feel they can dismiss the theory of evolution with all its proof yet don’t have to prove creationism? (Note to creationists: the Bible isn’t a textbook and doesn’t count.)

Also, as a commenter pointed out, in many respects (including anti-science stances) the Christian right in the U.S. is similar to the Muslims they always rally against, and have even helped spread their view:

“Advised by U.S. creationists, [Turkish publisher of popular Islamic books] Harun Yahya has developed a series of books that have helped spread [Koran-based creationist] views.”

Dead horse officially beaten some more. I’ll stop for now.
