2004 Spring Training

Marlins 4, Red Sox 0
spring training
Spring training at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, FL. Not the best game the Sox have played, but it was nice to be somewhere warm watching a ballgame.

Good Bye Lenin, Hello Flash!

Regular readers might know about my general dislike for Flash on websites. But the truth is, I just dislike poorly-used Flash. It can be a very good thing when used in the right context and for the right purpose.

Good Bye Lenin!Case in point: the site for Good Bye Lenin! While this design wouldn't work for a company's site, it's great for a movie promo site. It has a very (but not overly) clever interface that's easy and fun to figure out and use...plus it has the coolest "page" transitions I've seen on the web.

Weekend Gardening

While using my company's TV product, MyBestBets.tv, I was recommended a show on DIY Network, "Weekend Gardening," so I TiVo'd it and checked it out. Not only was it a pretty good show, but the episode was about starting a garden from seeds -- something I was planning to do this year.

So why am I bothering to put this here? Not because I think you care, but just so I don't forget to check out the DIY site's episode page...

In Defense of Biblical Marriage

Ridiculent points out that...
If we're going to create a constitutional amendment about marriage, we might as go all the way.
In Defense of Biblical Marriage sets the record straight...

Putzmeister

On the way to work this morning, I passed a truck with quite possibly the worst name for a company I think I've ever seen: Putzmeister. If there's a worse-named company out there, I'd like to hear it...or perhaps I don't.

barbarapeavey.com

I made some minor updates to my mother-in-law's website, barbarapeavey.com. I kept the basic design, but gave it a slightly more modern look (since the original design was done in '01 and looked it). I also cleaned up the HTML & CSS a lot -- I'm on a no-table kick now that I know how easy it is to build and maintain a site with such simple code.

So if you're interested in oil paintings of Nantucket and other New England coastal landscapes, check it out...
