Today was probably the last really warm day in New England -- we won't be riding in t-shirts again until sometime in April. But ten of us got together in Cambridge for a great four hour riding session. Now those of us who can't stand the cold will start looking for good underground places to ride with winter quickly approaching...

Nov. 27 update: I was wrong. We've had several warm days -- reaching near or into the 60s F -- since then... #

A couple New England riders went down to New Jersey for the King & Queen of Flatland Contest on Nov. 4. If you weren't one of them, you can still find out what went down: BMXTRIX has some great coverage that includes pro run videos and lots of photos.

Check out Backlashbmx for contest results (Matt St. Gelais took 9th in expert). #

You old-timers may remember Glen Gollrad. I recently got email from him:

It's amazing to see 'little' Jimmy Cavanaugh! He looks like he could rip my head off, or if he misses a trick his skin turns green or something!

That photo of me at the CT bike exchange was my very last ever competition! You know I actually remember that little contest 'cause it was the first time I felt behind the curve, if you will, as I hadn't learned one damned new trick in a while...School was intense and that contest was where I committed to architecture full-on, not leaving one minute left to really ride.

In fact that bike was ripped off around that X-Mas and I never really rode much after that...years later I was so bummed about any biking, 'cause I was then bike messengering and that left no time to ride for enjoyment. Not having the time to really ride and be learning new tricks or finding new spots was definitely a bummer.
