Stop Vertical Video…Again!

Remember when I said this blog was dead? Well, right after I posted that, I saw something that drove me crazy enough to raise it from the dead (at least temporarily).

More vertical video. It’s a huge pet peeve of mine and I’ve ranted about this before, but I recently saw a video of some Buddhist monks breakdancing in honor of MCA of the Beastie Boys. Take a look:

Actually, there’s no need to compare — there is no comparison! And it’s not just because the second one is more “professionally” shot. That first video makes you feel like you have blinders on, and if you’re watching it on a computer or TV it’s wasting your screen space and feels like you’re peeking through a partially open door to see it. Maddening!

So please people: stop it. Turn your phone 90° when you’re shooting video. MCA would’ve wanted it that way.
